Email sequence software your AI agent builds for you.
Tell your agent who should get what, and when. It writes each email in your brand, sets the waits, picks the audience and turns the sequence on. Sequence sends every step on schedule and stops for anyone who unsubscribes.
When someone books a consultation, email a confirmation right away, a what-to-expect note two days before the visit, and a review request a week after.
What your agent does
- Step 1
upsert_template
Writes each email in your brand
HTML or MJML with tokens for names and booking details. Sequence adds your address and a one-click unsubscribe link to every email, so no template can leave them out.
Excerpt of the call
{ "key": "booking-confirmed", "name": "Booking confirmed", "subject": "You're booked, {{first_name}}", "html": "<p>Hi {{first_name}}, you're booked.</p>" } - Step 2
preview_template
Shows the exact email before it sends
The preview is the same render that goes out, plus a Gmail approximation that flags styles Gmail drops.
- Step 3
create_sequence
Picks what starts the sequence
One trigger per sequence: a new contact, someone joining an audience, or an event your site or CRM reports, such as a booking. An optional filter narrows who enters.
Excerpt of the call
{ "name": "Consultation follow-up", "trigger_type": "event", "trigger_event_name": "booking.created", "anchor_property": "due_at" } - Step 4
add_step
Adds each email with its timing
Wait from minutes up to 90 days after the last step, or time a step from a date on the event, such as two days before the visit. Any email step can A/B test two versions.
Excerpt of the call
{ "sequence_id": "seq_…", "template_id": "tpl_…", "anchor_offset": "-2 days" } - Step 5
set_sequence_status
Turns it on
A sequence stays a draft until you say so. Once active, Sequence checks for due steps every five minutes.
- Step 6
get_sequence_stats
Reports how each step performs
Opens, clicks and bounces for every email step, and delivered, replied and failed for every text, over any date range.
The same job, without a builder.
Builder-style marketing tools make you assemble every piece by hand. With Sequence, your agent does the assembly from one sentence, and you review the result.
In a builder, you
- Drag text, image and button blocks into an email editor, one email at a time
- Draw a workflow canvas with waits and if/then branches
- Stack AND/OR rules to define who belongs in each segment
- Paste merge tags into every subject line and paragraph
- Click through settings for send windows, senders and unsubscribe links
With Sequence, you
Type one sentence. Your agent makes 6 calls:
- upsert_template
- preview_template
- create_sequence
- add_step
- set_sequence_status
- get_sequence_stats
Automated email sequences without a drag-and-drop editor
An email sequence is a set of messages that go out one after another, each a set time after the last, to everyone who enters it. Most email tools ask you to build that by hand: an editor for each email, a canvas for the timing, and a rule builder for the audience.
Sequence has no builder to learn. You describe the follow-up to the AI agent you already use, such as Claude Code, Codex or Cursor. The agent calls Sequence's tools to write the emails, build the audience and set the timing. You review it in the dashboard, and Sequence sends it.
Drip campaigns that stay predictable
Every sequence is a straight line of steps. Each contact moves forward one step at a time and finishes at the end, so you always know what someone will get next.
You can change a live sequence. Inserting or removing a step only affects contacts who have not reached it yet, and nobody receives the same step twice.
- One trigger
- A new contact, an audience join, or any named event from your site, CRM or app.
- Waits or anchored times
- Minutes to 90 days after the last step, or a set time before or after a date on the event.
- A/B tests
- Split any email step into two versions and compare opens and clicks per version.
- Exits
- Stop a contact when an event happens, such as a reply or a purchase.
Email and text messages in the same sequence
A step can be an email or a text. Texts go only to contacts who opted in to SMS, between 8 AM and 9 PM local time, worked out from the phone number's area code. Contacts without SMS consent skip the text and keep getting the emails.
Texting is available in the US after a one-time business registration, which your agent can start for you.
Compliance is built in, not a setting
Every email carries your physical address and a one-click unsubscribe link, added at send time. Unsubscribes, hard bounces and spam complaints stop all future marketing email to that contact, and Sequence checks again right before every send.
If complaints, bounces or unsubscribes spike for a brand, Sequence pauses that brand's sending and emails the owner.
Questions
Do I need to write HTML?
No. Your agent writes the emails. You can read the preview, ask for changes in plain English and send yourself a test before anything goes out.
What can start a sequence?
A new contact, a contact joining an audience, or a named event, such as a form fill, a booking, a deal moving stages or a weather alert. Your website form, Zapier, ServiceTitan, Pipedrive or your own app can report events.
Can I change a sequence after it starts?
Yes. You can edit emails, change waits and insert or remove steps. Changes only reach contacts who have not passed that step yet.
How is this different from a drip campaign tool?
The sending works the same way. The difference is setup: instead of building each email, branch and segment by hand, you describe it once and your agent builds it.
Can a contact be in the same sequence twice?
Not at the same time, with one exception: a sequence timed from an event, such as an appointment, runs once per appointment. When a contact finishes, the next matching trigger starts them again from the first step.
Ask your agent. Sequence sends.
